K2 Nationals race day on Oct 10th in place of canceled Lower Liffey

With the cancelation of the Lower Liffey Ranking race which was due to take place on Oct 10th we wanted to try to keep some racing on this date. On Short notice we have scheduled the K2 National Championships to take place at Salmon Leap Canoe Club next Sunday, October 10th. The format will that of the hugely successful 2019 K2 National Championships. This comprised of K2 racing over a 5K course (2 x 2.5K laps).

We will run 3 Races on the day & the 1 entry fee covers a paddler to take part in as many races as they wish. There will be Junior & Senior Male & Female National Championship titles up for grabs. In the final race of the day we will see the return of Junior Mixed & Mixed ability races. This was the highlight of the race day in 2019 with approx 30 K2s on the start line made up of everything from Div3/4 pairs to World Championship medalists with beginners

Entry will ope at 12 o’clock at Salmon Leap Canoe Club 7 for this race entries will be on the day. We will do our best to make as many K2’s available on the day as possible. If anyone has a K2 they would be will to let me used please bring it along on the day. Also for the mixed ability race if any paddlers with their own K2 are willing to pilot their boat with another paddler please let us know.

This should be fantastic days racing, particularly for Junior’s who get the chance to race with some more experienced senior paddlers. We encourage all clubs to do their best to take part in this great event.
