National Team Fundraising

The Irish Canoe Marathon National Team has been incredibly successful over the years. Since 2017 we have won 26 International Canoe Federation (ICF) or European Canoe Association (ECA) medals including 4 World Championship medals & 4 European Championship medals to accompany 18 World Cup medals. Despite the tremendous success, funding continues to be an issue, with no financial support available from governing bodies.

In 2025 Ireland had some fantastic results at both the World and European Championships, including a World Gold medal & a 5th place to go with a European Silver, Bronze & a 4th Place. 2026 sees the ECA European Championships take place in Pitesti, Romania from 25-28 June & the ICF World Canoe Marathon Championships take place in Gualeguaychu, Argentina from 22-25 October. Both events present a financial challenge, particularly the World Championships in Argentine which will cost in the region of €4000 per person for the trip.

For 2026 we are asking the canoeing community & beyond to contribute what they can to help get our team to World Championships . Any money raised will be used towards travel, accommodation & boat hire expenses, with funds being split among the Team members.

• Raffle to Win a new Marathon Construction Nelo K1 of your choice – Your chance to win a Marathon spec K1 worth ~€4000, be it a full on stability 1 race boat or a more stable Viper range K1. Draw ro take place at the end of the Season
• Re-turn to return our team to the World Championships in 2026 – Bring your used bottles and cans to a ranking race and a committee member will take them away and look after cashing in at a reverse vending machine and adding funds to the fundraising pot
