K2 National Champioships Race Notice – 25th Aug

K2 National Championship

This event is paired as a double header with the SLCC Marathon Ranking Race which runs on Sat 24th. Due to very low turnout to K2 National Championships in recent years we are trying something new this year. All races will run on a short course format over a 5k course which consists of 2 X 2.5k laps with a new race running each hour.

It would be greatly appreciated if any paddlers who own a K2 would consider making it available to borrow by other paddlers (particularly Juniors) to increase participation as much as possible.

A single entry fee per paddler of €10 for senior & €5 for Juniors cover entry into as many races as a paddler wishes to race.

Registration opens at 09:30 at SLCC

Race 1: 10:30
Junior Race:
• U15 Boys
• U18 Girls
• U18 Boys

Race 2: 11:30
Senior/Masters Race:
• Senior Men
• Senior Women
• Masters O39
• Mixed K2

Race 3: 12:30
• Junior Mixed Race
• Mixed Ability K2 (Based off divisions) – Subject to interest

Prize Givings 13:30

Mixed ability format will be decided on the Day subject on interest. Example format would be the sum of both paddlers divisions must be 6 or greater.

– Age groups are defined by a competitor’s age on 1st Jan 2019. Eg. 17 on 1st Jan = U18, 49 on 1st Jan = O49
– Competitors may compete up a level of competition but not down i.e. U18 can compete seniors
