SLCC Marathon Results

SLCC held their marathon race on Sunday 23rd August. The heatwave may have moved on but there was still some thrilling racing on this lovely, warm, calm day. Seventy four boats took to the water. Medals were hotly contested in Divisions 1, 1W and 2 with a few recent promotions adding to the mix and lots of tight sprint finishes. Division 3 was very sparse but Isaac competed well and completed the 16km for good measure. Division 4 had sprint finishes for all the medals and lots of tight racing. Division 5 Men was highly contested with 17 boats on the start line with lots of tight, exciting racing. Division 5 Women was also a great race with 9 boats on the start line and a great sprint finish for silver and bronze. Fantastic to see so many boats in Divisions GP and 7, all battling out their own races. We had K2 long and short course and of course, starting off our day was our Novice race with our up and coming juniors.

A big thank you to all at SLCC for the wonderful refreshments and to the people who helped to prepare, provide and organise them. Thank you to all our volunteers (starters, timekeepers, rescue, car park, refreshments, to name but a few), supporters and paddlers for making the race such a success.
