Thomastown Ranking Race Details

This Sunday 18th July sees the second race of this years Ranking Series with Thomastown Paddlers ranking race on the Nore. This is a great race on a lovely stretch of water. The Div1, Div2 long course starts above Bennetsbridge Weir and runs 23km downstream to Inistioge. All other Divisions run n the shorter 11km course from Thomastown to Inistioge. This is a fantastic stretch of water ot paddle with no weirs but has some flow and small wavy rapids. The flow means the 11km seems much shorter .

Last years event was amazing with approx 100 paddlers from14 different clubs represented with every type of boat imaginable on the water. The weather is on order again this year so hopefully we can get a turnout with similar diversity.

Ahead of this weeks race some info from Thomastown Paddlers which may be useful :

As this is a river race Helmets MUST BE WORN for the full duration of the race if paddling a General Purpose, Wavehopper, Gola Sprint or deceptor craft. Juniors U18 are also expected to wear helmets regardless of craft. Removal of helmets in these classes has been a serious issue in recent years and those seen to remove them will face automatic disqualification.

Public toilet in Thomastown centre. Takes a 20c to enter.

Race starts at 12 midday opposite @tims bar. Race should be concluded at Inistioge boatslip at approx 2pm.Prize giving will take place on the quayside afterward.

Paddlesports Ireland will be at the start in Thomastown and Race finish in inistioge for all your paddling requirements.

Entry is online as usual with link below. Registration will also be taken on the day with a 5 Euro late entry fee. Online entries close at 6pm on the 17th

The below video captures the some of last years race beautifully. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the water this coming weekend
