Only 2 weeks until we are racing again!!!

Finally we are almost back racing. The 2021 race season is due to kick of on the 4th July with the always beautiful Belturbet Ranking Marathon.

It will be a welcome return to the water after a full 12 months with no racing. This will be the 1st race out of pretty packed 2nd half of 2021 with the Thomastown Nore Marathon following 2 weeks later on July 18th.

There will be a race for all levels with divisions racing over 5k, 10k, 15k & 20k throughout the season. The Belturbet race lengths vary from 5k to 16k. All boats are welcome as always. We will once again be using an online entry system going forward. Details will be released with the race notice of the Belturbet race over the coming days.

We are looking forward to hopefully seeing a continuation of the enthusiasm seen in the 2 races ran in the COVID shortened 2020 season. In the last race of 2020 we had 96 entries from 14 different clubs with boats of all shapes & sizes taking part, from K1’s to plastic river boats to OC1’s.

See the current 2021 race calendar below. We hope to also add an exciting new short course marathon race to this in the near future. This has become a staple of International championships over recent years with fast & furious racing over a course of only 3.5k which includes some portages. It will make for a really exciting day of racing.
