World Cup Sandvika, Norway – Matt McCartney and Alex O’Brien of Celbridge Paddlers representing Ireland

This weekend sees the Marathon World Cup take place in Sandvika, Norway. This will also be the location of the 2020 World Marathon Championships. Ireland is being represented by Matt McCartney & Alex O’Brien of Celbridge Paddlers Canoe Club in the Junior Men’s K1 class.

The racing schedule consist of both short course & long course racing. The short course racing takes place over a 3.4km course with 2 portages. The original schedule was to have heats on Friday & finals on Saturday but the heats have been cancelled so there will be a straight final on Saturday morning around 10:00 local time. On Sunday the long course races start with the Junior Men racing over 22.6km in the first start of the day at 09:00 local time.
