World Championships Seniors
A huge well done to the seniors who raced in the World Championships over the week end. In the Women’s race Jenny Egan showed her toughness again and again. After getting dropped from the lead group about half way through the race she fought her way back to join it again multiple times through the last few laps before finishing a well-earned 5th place. In the Men’s race Barry Watkins also stayed with the lead group throughout the first few laps before dropping back. In the end he finished 12th place only 2minutes off the winners after 30km of racing. Jon Simmons had to unfortunately withdraw from the race after being unwell in the lead up to the race.
Well done to everyone who raced across the last week in Portugal. Now the attention turns to the Liffey Descent next week end where hopefully we will see many of the International paddlers from the Worlds coming over to race. Entries close today so if you haven’t got your entry in yet, time to get moving.
