Celbridge Marathon kicks off the Ribadesella series.

Last Sunday the 8th of April saw the Celbridge Marathon kick of the 2018 Ribadesella series. Celbridge Paddlers Canoe Club put on a great event. There was a buzz in the air as paddlers were getting ready to see how all their hard winter miles paid off. Even mother nature played nice & gave us some sunshine for the event.

While Barry Watkins(SLCC) stormed home for the win in Division 1, many of the younger paddlers showcased the vast improvements they made over the off season. Aisling Smith(SLCC) was the 1st lady home finishing in a dead heat after 15k of racing with the 1st Junior, Senan Forristal (TPCC). Salmon Leap Canoe Club took home The Tara Trophy, a new perpetual trophy awarded to the most successful club at the Celbridge Paddlers race. Also a big congratulations to Matt McCartney(CPCC) on earning promotion from Division 3 to Division 2. After getting the competitive taste buds flowing again everyone left looking forward to a good season of racing.

The next race of the Ribadesella Series is the always enjoyable City of The Tribes Marathon in Galway on May 20th.

The CMI Descent Series kicks off next, on 29th April with Kilcullen Canoe Clubs Ballymore Eustace to Kilcullen race.
