Marathon Team wins Team of the year at Canoeing Ireland Awards

The Canoe Marathon Ireland Team took the team of the year award at the Canoeing Ireland end of year awards. The team had a powerhouse of a season with 8 top 10 finishes between the World & European Championships, topped off by 3 medals (1 X Gold, 1 X Silver & 1 X Bronze) from Sean Butterly on the boys side & a 4th & 2 5th place finishes by Lucy Cullen on the Girls side.

Over 2025 the team consisted of:

• Sean Butterly – U18MK1 & U18MK2
• Sean Smyth – U18MK1 & U18MK2
• Lucy Cullen – U18WK1
• Emily Roche – U18WK1 & U18WK2
• Sadb Shannon – U18WK1 & U18WK2
• Jon Simmons – Coach
• Colin Caffrey – Team Leader

Individual Marathon awards were also give out to:

• Senior Male Athlete of the Year: Paul Donnellan (SLCC)
• Senior Female Athlete of the Year: Kate O’Halloran (SLCC)
• Junior Male Athlete of the Year: Sean Butterly (SLCC)
• Junior Female Athlete of the Year: Lucy Cullen (SLCC)
