Kevin ‘Spud’ Murphy Festival of Racing this weekend.

The Canoe marathon Ireland Committee are delighted that the Kevin ‘Spud’ Murphy Festival of Racing is taking place on Sunday 18th May at Salmon Leap Canoe Club. It promises to be a great day of racing for both athletes and spectators with 4 short course races taking part throughout the day.

Racing kicks off at 11 with the 1st of the K1 Short Course National Championships race, consisting of 3 short laps of just over 1000M each with 2 portages. The 2nd K1 short course race is at 11:30. This is followed by the National Mixed K2 championship over 5km (2 X 2.5km laps) where the Kevin ‘Spud’ Murphy Cup will be awarded to the winners. The day of racing finishes up with the always popular and fun mixed ability race where higher division racers pair up with lower division racers of 3 short 1k laps. The sum of paddlers division must add up to 7 or more. If paddlers have not raced in recent years and are unsure of what division they would be ranked in, just contact a committee member on the day
